Bear Hunt

Hi Everyone!

This week in English we have been reading We're Going on a Bear Hunt.  We have looked at all the describing words in the story and we found out that these words are called 'adjectives'.

We then went on our own Bear hunts around the school and tried to think of exciting adjectives to describe the places that we visited.

The rope bridge was "wobbly and long".

The planks were "wooden and flat".

And the climbing frame was "colourful and tall."

We then had a look at 'onomatopoeia'!  This means when the sound of the word is similar to the sound of the thing it describes.  For example - whoosh or bang.  The story of Going on a Bear Hunt has lots of these words in it.

Can you think of any more words?  Why not look in other stories for exciting adjectives?

Wow, thanks everybody for your donations for the cake sale.
Look how much fun we had making our marshmallow pops!

Oh by the way well done Beetles Class for getting On Time Turtle this week.  Keep up the good work!

See you next week?

PE

v

Hello Everyone,

This week in Beetles Class we have been busy in Maths learning to add two numbers together.  We have made sure that we know what the symbols + and = mean and we have been using them  in lots of number sentences!

In topic we had a go at building our own bear traps - it was quite tricky!  We finished our story of the Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and The Big Hungry Bear and found out that there wasn't a bear at all in the story!!  In the end it was the fox playing a trick on the mouse.

In PE we have been having lots of fun with Mr Leslie from Premier Sports.  We have been learning all about balance and control.

It was great fun outside in the sunshine!

Whoops sorry Tilly - or is it Maleka? I can't tell!

Well that's all for now see you next week.

The red ripe strawberry and the big hungry bear

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Beetles Class.  This week we have been looking at the story of The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and the BIG HUNGRY BEAR.

We acted out parts of the story and even had a go at choosing our own disguises - can you who we are in the photos?  We have also done lots of writing about the different characters.

With Mrs Goddard we had fun tasting strawberries!

Do come back next week and find out what we have been doing.
